Barbue in Poughkeepsie is an absolute gem. From the moment we sat down, the experience was incredible. We started with the fried okra, which was absolutely phenomenal, and the poutine, which was also excellent and made by a Canadian Chef, so you know it was legit! (Also CIA-trained) For entrees, we chose the blue crab linguine and the grillades and grits. The linguine was fresh and flavorful, and the grillades featured fork-tender, slow-cooked beef that was beyond satisfying. Both dishes were a perfect 10/10. Dessert didn’t disappoint either. We had the beignets, and they were amazing—light, airy, and packed with flavor. The cocktails at Barbue are in a league of their own, especially for this area. I had “The Yellow Pill,” a clarified cocktail featuring bourbon, ginger, lemon, cinnamon, and both Angostura and orange bitters. Clarification is a very advanced technique, and the result was incredibly smooth and well-balanced—100% the best cocktail I’ve ever had. I also tried the classic New Orleans Hurricane, which was delicious as well. The service was top-notch—our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The vibe of the restaurant was relaxed and inviting, with New Orleans-style music adding to the atmosphere. This was an all-around exceptional dining experience. Absolutely in love with this place! The service was warm and attentive, and the food was fantastic from start to finish. I had a hurricane, the shrimp po’ boy, the boudin balls & cracklins'—all delicious. The beignets were incredible too! I haven’t had Cajun food since visiting New Orleans, so it was such a treat to find a spot that hits the mark. I’ll definitely be back!

Everything was absolutely delicious. Genuinely authentic New Orleans cuisine (tested and verified, ask them about it) that is bursting with flavor. We got the gumbo, jambalaya, fried clams, and the skirt steak and all of it was absolutely to die for. They have some unique and delicious drink options that are either restaurant-based or New Orleans-inspired. Of course, we wrapped it with the beignets, which were tastier than Cafe Du Monde (if I do say so myself). Lauren was a fantastic server, beyond welcoming and accommodating. Take the time to check out this quiet, classy, and tasty joint.

Amazing! Would give them 6 stars if possible. Food and drinks were perfect. Fried okra was so delicious! Beignets were pillowy & perfection! Our dinners were off the charts! We felt like we were in NOLA but in the safety & cleanliness of the Eastdale community. Staff is wonderful, fun, kind, helpful with recommendations. Just wonderful! We will return!

Food was excellent. The happy hour deals were really great too. But the server we had was amazing. She knew the whole menu well and was able to give some really great recommendations. I am very happy with my experience here. Wish it was a little bit warmer so we could have comfortably sat outside

Came here for lunch for my husband’s birthday and the food and drinks were amazing! We tried the fried oysters and okra so good. The mojito was delicious also. Definitely coming back. Thank you Nina!

Great food and a wonderful server. I would highly recommend the okra fries (I ordered some for the table, and they were gone moments later). For dessert, I had the creme brulee and banana pudding brownie. Both were amazing, and I wound up getting a few orders of the banana pudding brownie to go.

Absolutely incredible dinner experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The service was flawless... attentive without being intrusive, and the entire team was warm, professional, and genuinely passionate about what they do. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Can’t recommend this place enough... easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had!
